Alai Community Consulting

Alaí Community Consulting (ACC) is thrilled and energized to be a part of the Northwest Environmental Justice Center. Working on projects aimed at promoting environmental justice resonates deeply with our team, who are eager to leverage their expertise to address critical issues and contribute to our communities. This collaboration is an opportunity to not only apply our skills but also to actively contribute to a more just and sustainable future.

We are a multilingual, BIPOC-led team of six women with expertise in conducting research, meeting facilitation, community organizing, outreach, community engagement, legal and policy advocacy, conflict resolution, report development, and more. Our team includes Dr. Alaí Reyes-Santos, Perla Medina Alvarez, Cheyenne Holliday, Dr. Yu-Fang Cho, and Grace Brahler, JD.

We facilitate organizational transformations and community engagement in the non-profit sector, government, higher education, and social and environmental justice organizations. Our team members have collaborated with Huerto de la Familia, Northwest Youth Corps, School Garden Project, Klamath Lake Land Trust, Centro Latinoamericano, Mobilize Green, City of Eugene, Northeast Oregon Economic Development District, Parenting Now, Downtown Languages, NAACP, Verde, Chinook Indian Nation, Euvalcree, PCUN, Dartmouth University, U of Oregon's Teaching Effectiveness Program, among many others.

We have also been engaged in projects that have had a lasting impact in environmental justice communities’ advocacy, capacity building, and policy-making, such as the Oregon Water Futures Collaborative (see community engagement reports and policy recommendations here), and the City of Eugene’s Climate Action Plan 2.0: Equity Panel (see report here).

In our role within the Northwest Environmental Justice Center, our primary focus is to serve as a dedicated provider of community outreach activities and technical assistance in the following areas:

  • conducting research

  • meeting facilitation

  • community organizing

  • outreach

  • community engagement

  • legal and policy analysis and advocacy

  • conflict resolution

  • report development

We are deeply committed to fostering community engagement and awareness, utilizing our expertise to communicate the importance of environmental justice initiatives grounded on the specificity of each community we encounter.

Through strategic outreach efforts, we aim to connect with communities in Oregon, ensuring that information and resources are accessible to all. Simultaneously, our team is poised to offer technical assistance. By combining our outreach support with technical expertise, we aspire to empower the Northwest Environmental Justice Center in its mission, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes inclusivity, sustainability, and equitable access to a healthy environment for all.
