Community Leadership Assembly

The Northwest Environmental Justice Center is community-led via a Community Leadership Assembly. They help us stay accountable to local vision and are representative of the diverse communities across our region.

Heart of Our Center: Every year, the NWEJC leadership team reports to the Community Leadership Assembly, who help steer the direction of the Center.

Setting Priorities: The Assembly establishes annual priorities that inform our technical assistance offerings and allocates funds to help fill center gaps and support environmental justice projects.

Leadership: The Assembly is made up of environmental justice and community leaders across Alaska, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.

What does the Assembly do?

  • Set the Center’s priorities for the year

  • Review and provide feedback on the Center’s progress

  • Lead an annual participatory budgeting process that allows environmental justice community members to allocate funds to EJ projects, putting funds directly into community hands.

Is the Assembly compensated for their time and knowledge?

Yes! We cover all trip accommodations and offer an annual stipend. Though not much, it’s a small gesture of our gratitude for your participation and leadership.

When will the Assembly meet?

The Assembly will have regular online meetings and one in-person summit each year.

How do I apply?

We currently have a position available for an Assembly advisor who does community work in Idaho. Please get in touch with lynny@willamettepartnership if you are interested in learning more.
